Potomac Photonics 4445 Nicole Drive Lanham, MD 20706 Contacts: Mike Adelstein (301)459-3031 (phone) (301)459-3034 (fax) [email protected] Potomac Photonics a world leader laser micromachining is pleased to announce that it has set-up several in-house workstations optimized for laser processing of photovoltaic (PV) systems. The laser systems are capable of performing via drilling, edge isolation and marking of mono and multicrystalline silicon materials. With the ability to machine very small and precise features, Potomac’s technology is ideal for solar manufacturers involved in developing or manufacturing PV products such as metal wrap through (MWT) or emitter wrap though (EWT) devices which require high speed cost-effective drilling of vias to connect the front surface to the rear surface of the wafer. “We are very pleased to enter this growing market and are committed to utilizing our technology to help both start-up and large organizations develop alternative energy sources” stated Dr. Lori Beer, President of Potomac Photonics.
Potomac specializes in precision machining of a variety of materials (polymers, metals, glass, etc.). Applications include micro hole drilling, laser marking, part excision and cutting. Typical feature sizes range between 1 and 300 um. Potomac’s rapid turn manufacturing methodologies are readily extendable to high volume production emphasizing improved efficiency and economy. Once product is introduced to the market, Potomac offers its customers an aggressive cost reduction schedule to meet production ramp-up needs.
Lead-Times as fast as 24-48 hours can be realized for certain applications. Once volumes reach a high level, Potomac can dedicate systems and resources for production manufacturing. Potomac Photonics is ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485 certified. All work is carefully inspected and certificates of conformance are included with all finished products.
