Potomac Photonics Introduces High Density Interconnect Capability
Potomac Photonics (Lanham, MD), a leader in the laser microfabrication of medical and biomedical devices, is pleased to offer a new laser based technology for patterning high density interconnects. The approach is hybridization of laser patterning and plating which allows for sub mil feature sizes in thick film patterns. Nick Doudoumopoulos, Potomac’s CTO states “this development addresses a growing need among our customers for high density interconnects as their designs push past the present capabilities of traditional patterning techniques”. A variety of metals are available which address performance, corrosion resistance and bio compliance. Mike Adelstein, Potomac’s COO states “Because the patterning is performed with direct write laser tools, no masks are required, which eliminates the tooling cost and allows for rapid prototyping”. Lori Beer, Potomac’s President adds “in production, Potomac’s proprietary state of the art laser lines provide high throughput (24/7) at a very competitive cost”.
Potomac Photonics (experts in miniaturization) provides contract-manufacturing services from prototypes to production. A wide variety of materials can be processed, such as polymers, metals, ceramics, and glass. Feature sizes less than 2 microns can be realized in most materials. Potomac Photonics is ISO 9001:2000 certified and can process prototypes within 48 hours.
